1. Learn a new word or expression every day and try to use it in a sentence.

2. Read a book over the holidays. Try setting yourself the goal of just 10 pages a day.

3. Sign up for a language-learning newsletter and receive free content via e-mail or mobile phone text messages.

4. Listen to or read the lyrics to a song. Once you’ve learnt it, sing along to the song… or sing it to some friends.

5. Learn as many words as you can from one lexical set: the computer, sports, hobbies, pets, the pub, etc.

6. Watch a DVD in English with the English subtitles switched on.

7. Try watching a film that you’ve already seen in your own language. You’ll find it much easier to follow.

8. Write updates on your Facebook or Twitter page in English. Alternatively, write a blog in English and share it with your friends.

9. As you’re doing something, describe what it is in English. For example, “I’m writing a report. / I’m sending an e-mail. / I’m jogging in the park.”

10. Speak in English with your friends for ten minutes every day.

11. Get a private teacher and have a conversation with him/her for an hour a week. Foreign students in most towns or cities would be more than happy to earn €15 to €20 an hour just for chatting.

เสน่ห์ของ BlackBerry หรือ BB ที่หลายคนหลงใหลจนถึงขั้นเรียกว่าใกล้เสพติด หนีไม่พ้นระบบแชต (Chat) หรือ BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) ที่ทำให้ชื่อเสียงของ BB โดดเด่นอยู่แถวหน้า รวมทั้งกลยุทธ์ของเหล่าโอเปอเรเตอร์มือถือที่ใช้ BBM เป็นจุดขาย แพร่กระจายลงตลาดแมส หรือกลุ่มผู้ใช้งานทั่วไป หลังจาก BB โด่งดังในเรื่องการใช้งานสื่อสารเมลในองค์กร

เมื่อ BB หันมาลงเล่นตลาดแมส ผู้ผลิตมือถือค่ายต่างๆ ก็อยู่นิ่งไม่ไหว ต่างพัฒนาแอปพลิเคชั่น ในเรื่องการแชตโดยหวังมาเป็นคู่แข่ง BBM รวมทั้งโอเปอเรเตอร์มือถือ ที่อัดแพกเกจจูงใจระบบแชตของมือถือหลากยี่ห้อในตลาด

เมื่อ BBM ถูกท้าทายด้วยแอปฯ ระบบแชต ที่ถึงแม้อาจไม่ใช่แฟนแต่ก็ทำแทนกันได้ มนต์ขลังของ BB อาจเริ่มเสื่อมลงแล้ว สัญญาญร้ายของ BB เริ่มส่อแวว เมื่อรายงานผลการสำรวจของบริษัทวิจัยตลาดหลายสำนักต่างรายงานไปในทิศทางเดียวกันว่า แอนดรอยด์กับไอโฟนจะเป็น 2 สมาร์ทโฟนที่มาแรง ขณะที่ BB อาการน่าเป็นห่วงมียอดขายเติบโตลดลง

แถมยังมีข่าวออกมาจากบริษัท รีเสิร์ชอินโมชัน หรือที่เรียกกันติดปากว่า ‘ริม’ เตรียมที่จะเลิกจ้างพนักงานทั่วโลก 2,000 ตำแหน่ง หรือประมาณ 10.5% ของพนักงานทั้งหมด และยังจะมีการปรับโครงสร้างบริษัทอีกด้วย ซึ่งอาจจะมีผลกระทบต่อแผนการเปิดสำนักงานสาขาในประเทศไทยที่วางแผนไว้ว่าจะเปิดดำเนินการภายในปีนี้

อะไรที่เป็นเหตุให้ BB ไม่ได้กลายเป็นสมาร์ทโฟนที่วัยรุ่นยุคใหม่ต้องแบมือขอเงินพ่อแม่มาซื้อหาเพื่อให้ได้เป็นเจ้าของอีกต่อไป..

ส่วนหนึ่งน่าจะเป็นผลมาจากตัวเลือกในตลาดสมาร์ทโฟนรุ่นใหม่ๆ ที่วางขายในปัจจุบัน และอนาคตต่างมีประสิทธิภาพที่เหนือกว่า มีฟีเจอร์ที่ล้ำกว่า ขณะที่ BB กลับมีปัญหาในการพัฒนาสมาร์ทโฟนรุ่นใหม่เข้าสู่ตลาด ทำให้เกิดช่องว่างในการวางจำหน่ายผลิตภัณฑ์รุ่นใหม่นานเกินไป ความต้องการของ BB จึงไม่คึกคักเหมือนเดิม

ช่วงที่ BB ฮิตติดลมบน มีการวางจำหน่าย BB หลากรุ่นและหลายราคา เรียกได้ว่า มีตั้งแต่ราคาไม่ถึงหมื่นไปจนถึง 2หมื่นต้นๆ แต่ก็ใช้เครื่องเหล่านั้นในการทำตลาดตลอดช่วงครึ่งปีที่ผ่านมา โดยไม่มีการนำเข้าเครื่องรุ่นใหม่ เนื่องจากอยู่ในช่วงพัฒนาระบบปฏิบัติการใหม่ ‘BB OS 7′ ที่จะมาดึงกระแสแมสให้หันกลับไปมอง BB อีกครั้ง

จุดเด่นสำคัญของ BB อยู่ตรงที่บริการ ‘พุชเมล’ ที่ออกแบบมาสำหรับให้นักธุรกิจ และมีบริการแชตในกลุ่มสังคมที่ใช้งาน BB ของตนเองไม่เกี่ยวกับใคร โดยไม่ต้องทำงาน เล่นและใช้งานบนคอมพิวเตอร์เหมือนในอดีต ซึ่งเป็นการสร้างประสบการณ์ใหม่ให้เกิดขึ้นในโลกของสมาร์ทโฟน

และด้วยรูปลักษณ์ที่แปลกตาไม่เหมือนใคร ที่ช่วยดึงดูดความน่าใช้ของผลิตภัณฑ์ ซึ่งมีฟีเจอร์ที่แตกต่าง และโดดเด่นกว่าสมาร์ทโฟนรุ่นอื่นๆ ส่งผลให้ BB ก้าวขึ้นมาเป็นหนึ่งในผู้นำตลาดสมาร์ทโฟนในขณะนั้น

***Push Mail ใครๆ ก็ทำได้

ริม เริ่มต้นธุรกิจจากการเป็นผู้ผลิตเพจเจอร์ที่คิดค้นวิธีพิมพ์รับ-ส่งข้อความหากัน และความสามารถดังกล่าวถูกพัฒนาให้โดดเด่นมากยิ่งขึ้นผ่านคีย์บอร์ดบนโทรศัพท์มือถือ ที่มีความคล้ายคลึงกับคีย์บอร์ดคอมพิวเตอร์ ที่เรียกกันแบบติดปากว่า QWERTY โดยเริ่มต้นไลน์การผลิตในปี 2542 ในลักษณะเป็นเพจเจอร์สองทาง และต่อมาในปี 2545 ถึงมีการผลิตในรูปแบบของสมาร์ทโฟนเหมือนในปัจจุบัน

จากการนำเทคโนโลยี QWERTY มาใช้บนสมาร์ทโฟนภายใต้แบรนด์ BB ส่งผลให้ BB กลายเป็นสมาร์ทโฟนที่สามารถใช้การส่งเมลได้ง่ายกว่าแพลตฟอร์มอื่นๆ โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่คุ้ยเคยกับการพิมพ์ SMS โดยใช้แป้นพิมพ์ตัวหนังสือบนมือถือ เหมือนได้พบกับอะไรที่คุ้นเคยกันมานาน

ที่เหนือไปกว่านั้น คือ การนำเทคโนโลยี ‘พุช เมล’ (Push Mail) ที่สามารถรับส่งข้อความอีเมลได้แบบเรียลไทม์ สนองความต้องการในตลาดองค์กร ที่สามารถสื่อสารกับพนักงานทั้งหมดได้โดยการส่งอีเมลเพียงครั้งเดียว โดยลงทุนติดตั้งเซิร์ฟเวอร์ไว้ที่บริษัท พร้อมกับการเข้ารหัสข้อมูลเพื่อรักษาความปลอดภัย ทำให้อีเมลของ BB มีความปลอดภัยสูงมาก ดังนั้นปัญหาเรื่องการถูกแฮกในระบบจึงทำได้ยาก

แต่ความยิ่งใหญ่ของ BB อาจจะดูสั้นยิ่งนัก เมื่อระบบปฏิบัติการ ‘แอนดรอยด์’ ที่พัฒนาโดย ‘กูเกิล’ ยักษ์ใหญ่วงการเสิร์ชเอนจิ้น ได้ขึ้นมาท้าชิงพุช เมล โดยมีการพัฒนาแอปฯ ด้านอีเมลอย่าง จีเมล (Gmail) ที่ถอดแบบความสามารถทั้งหมดที่มีในเว็บเมลลงสู่สมาร์ทโฟนสายพันธุ์แอนดรอยด์ทุกรุ่น ส่งผลให้มีฟีเจอร์ในการใช้งานที่หลากหลายไม่แพ้กับระบบเมลของ BB ด้วยอินเตอร์เฟสเรียบง่าย แต่น่าใช้งาน

หรือแม้แต่ใน ‘ไอโอเอส’ ของแอปเปิลที่มีการนำมาใช้ในไอโฟน ก็มีการพัฒนาระบบรับ-ส่ง อีเมลที่สามารถเลือกระยะเวลาในการซิงค์ข้อมูลได้เอง ทำให้ผู้ใช้ที่ต้องการเข้าถึงอีเมลแบบทันที ก็สามารถเลือกความถี่ในการซิงค์ข้อมูลให้มากขึ้น แต่ถ้าไม่ต้องการเข้าถึงอีเมลตลอดเวลา ก็สามารถเลือกซิงค์เฉพาะเวลาที่ต้องการได้

บวกกับความเร็วในการรับส่งเมลผ่านพุช เมลที่เคยเป็นจุดเด่นและแตกต่างระหว่าง BB กับ สมาร์ทโฟนรุ่นอื่นๆ ก่อนหน้านี้แทบไม่มีความหมาย เมื่อเทียบกับความสามารถของสมาร์ทโฟนรุ่นใหม่ๆ ที่เชื่อมต่ออินเทอร์เน็ตตลอดเวลา ดังนั้นจุดแข็งด้านอีเมลของ BB อาจจะใกล้เข้าสู่จุดอิ่มตัวในเร็ววันนี้ เพราะตลาดสมาร์ทโฟนเกิดใหม่กำลังถูกยึดครองโดยไอโฟน และแอนดรอยด์

ในเมื่อพื้นที่การตลาดของ BB กำลังถูกบีบให้เหลือในวงจำกัด การที่จะชูจุดขายด้วยระบบพุชเมลแบบเดิม ที่จะได้ส่งเสียงเตือนทุกครั้งที่มีข้อความเข้ามาทุกที่ทุกเวลาตราบเท่าที่ยังเปิดเครื่องอยู่ ซึ่งอาจจะเกิดอารมณ์รำคาญระบบพุช เมลของ BB ได้ในบางเวลาสำหรับผู้ใช้งานทั่วๆ ไป จนอาจเลือกที่จะหันไปใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการอื่นๆ ในตลาดแทน แต่สำหรับนักธุรกิจที่ให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องอีเมลมากๆ เรื่องนี้เป็นที่ยอมรับได้

***BBM อ่อนแรง ?

อีกสิ่งที่ทำให้ BB ได้รับความนิยม และตรงกับความต้องการของผู้ใช้งานทั่วโลกนั่นคือ ระบบแชต ที่เรียกว่า BBM ที่มีจุดเด่นอยู่ที่การแชทได้รวดเร็วทันใจ ผ่าน PIN ที่เป็นเสมือนชื่อที่ใช้ในการติดต่อ ที่สำคัญผู้ใช้สามารถแชตกับเพื่อนในรายชื่อได้ แม้จะปิดเครื่องอยู่ก็ตาม และทันทีที่เพื่อนเปิดเครื่องก็จะได้รับข้อความเตือนเหมือนมีอีเมลถูกส่งเข้ามา ซึ่งเป็นเอกสิทธิ์เฉพาะผู้ใช้ BB เท่านั้น

เรื่องนี้ถือว่า ‘โดน’ ใจขาแชตบนคอมพิวเตอร์ไม่ว่าจะเป็น MSN, ICQ ฯลฯ ที่ต้องการปลดพันธนาการตัวเองจากหน้าจอคอมพิวเตอร์ให้สามารถแชตที่ไหนก็ได้บนสมาร์ทโฟน บวกกับกระแสฟีเวอร์ ดาราดังในฮอลลีวูด ศิลปินนักร้อง แม้กระทั่งประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐอเมริกา ‘โอบาม่า’ ต่างก็มีพินของ BB ทำให้ BBM ดังเป็นพลุเพียงชั่วข้ามคืน จนเกิดกระแสใครไม่มี BB ถือว่า ‘เอาท์’

แต่หากมองในมุมกลับ จากจุดแข็ง BBM ผ่าน PIN ที่ผูกกับตัวเครื่อง ทำให้มันกลายเป็นจุดบอดในการใช้งานติดต่อสื่อสารกับผู้ใช้งานระบบปฏิบัติการอื่นในตลาดที่มีคนใช้งานมากกว่า จนสูญเสียส่วนแบ่งให้กับโปรแกรมแแชตข้ามแพลตฟอร์ม ที่มาแรงในตลาดอย่าง WhatsApp, Paringo หรือ MSN ที่มีรูปแบบและลักษณะการใช้งานไม่แตกต่างจากระบบแชตของ BB เท่าไรนัก

อย่างกรณี WhatsApp ได้กลายเป็นแอปฯ ที่ถูกจับตามองทันทีที่มีการเปิดตัวครั้งแรกในระบบปฏิบัติการไอโอเอส เมื่อผู้พัฒนาอย่าง WhatsApp Inc. สร้างความแตกต่างและฉีกกฎการแชตแบบที่คุ้นเคยบน BBM ด้วยการใช้งานที่สามารถคุยกันได้ทั้งในไอโอเอส แอนดรอยด์ BB และซิมเบียน

สิ่งที่ WhatsApp โชว์เหนือกว่า BBM คือ ไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ PIN ที่เป็นลักษณะเฉพาะของ BB แต่ Whatsapp กลับเลือกใช้สิ่งที่ผู้ใช้สมาร์ทโฟนทุกคนต้องมี นั่นคือหมายเลขโทรศัพท์ แสดงให้เห็นว่าขอเพียงแค่ผู้ใช้งานมีหมายเลขโทรศัพท์ของบุคคลที่ต้องการจะติดต่อ ก็จะสามารถใช้บริการนี้ได้ทันที โดยไม่ต้องไปเสียเวลาเพิ่มผู้ติดต่อโดยการขอ PIN ให้ยุ่งยาก และมีการใช้งานอย่างแพร่หลายในต่างประเทศ รวมถึงในไทยที่เริ่มมีกระแสการใช้งานเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว ราวกับได้บริการโดนใจในหมู่พ้องเพื่อนขาแชตทั้งหลาย

แน่นอนว่า รูปแบบของบริการในแอปฯ เหล่านี้ อาจจะไม่สามารถฆ่าหรือแสดงความเหนือกว่า BB ได้อย่างชัดเจน แต่ภาพที่ออกมา คือ บริการที่ BB ทำได้ มันกลับกลายเป็นสิ่งที่ใครๆ ก็ทำได้ และยิ่งเป็นการเป็นการเปิดช่องว่างให้แก่ผู้ใช้ว่าถ้าหากต้องการจะแชต จำเป็นด้วยหรือที่จะต้องเลือกซื้อ BB ในเมื่อฟีเจอร์อื่นๆ ของ BB ไม่ได้เหนือกว่า

แถมยังกลายเป็นจุดอ่อนที่ BB ยังไม่มีการแก้ไขให้ดีขึ้น ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่องของกล้องดิจิตอลที่มีคุณภาพไม่ต่างจากมือถือราคาถูกหลักพันกว่าบาท ปัญหาเรื่องของระบบปฏิบัติการที่ชอบค้าง วิธีแก้คือต้องถอดฝาหลังพร้อมกับดึงแบตเตอรี่ออกจากเครื่องถึงจะแก้ปัญหาดังกล่าวได้เอง แต่ไม่สมกับราคาที่จ่ายไปหลักหมื่น

***แอปฯ จำกัด

แอปพลิเคชัน เป็นสิ่งสำคัญไม่ยิ่งหย่อนไปกว่าบริการอย่าง BBM จากรูปแบบการป้อนข้อมูลที่หลากหลายทั้งระบบคีย์บอร์ด หรือ ทัชสกรีนในบางรุ่น ทำให้นักพัฒนามองไม่เห็นถึงจุดคุ้มในการพัฒนาแอปฯ ให้รองรับการป้อนข้อมูลทุกรูปแบบ ซึ่งจากข้อจำกัดดังกล่าว ทำให้ปริมาณแอปฯ ที่มีใน BB จึงต่ำกว่ารายอื่นในตลาด

ขณะที่แนวโน้มสมาร์ทโฟนทั้งไอโฟนและแอนดรอยด์มีความชัดเจนแล้วว่า จะไปทางเทคโนโลยีทัชสกรีน ซึ่งน่าจะเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่อาจจะชี้เป็นชี้ตาย BBM เลยทีเดียว หากตัดใจทิ้งแป้นพิมพ์ QWERTY ที่เป็นจุดเด่นของแบล็กเบอรี่ไป

สิ่งที่ต้องรอดูกันต่อไปคือ ระบบปฏิบัติการ BB OS 7 ซึ่งมีเค้าว่าจะเปลี่ยนไปใช้ระบบปฏิติบัติการที่พัฒนาขึ้นมาจากลินุกซ์ ในชื่อ QNX เช่นเดียวกับใน เพลย์บุ๊กแท็บเล็ตจากค่ายเดียวกัน ที่ได้รับคำชมในการใช้งานด้านมัลติมีเดีย ความบันเทิงเหนือกว่าแท็บเล็ตรุ่นอื่นๆในตลาด และเมื่อเป็นเช่นนั้น หนทางของนักพัฒนาในการผลิตแอปฯ ให้รองรับการใช้งานที่หลากหลายจะเพิ่มขึ้นตามความสามารถของระบบปฏิบัติการในที่สุด

ชะตากรรมของ BB ที่ครั้งหนึ่งสุกใสด้วยบริการที่แตกต่าง กำลังถูกท้าทายจากสมาร์ทโฟนต่างค่ายและต่างระบบปฏิบัติการ เสน่ห์ของ BB เริ่มเสื่อมมนต์ขลังแล้ว หากยังไม่เร่งปรับตัว BBM อาจเป็นแค่สิ่งที่ขาแชต จดจำว่าเป็นบริการที่เคยมีในตลาดเท่านั้น

From problems mentioned above, the internet is not only the more beneficial technology but also seriously harmful mean of modern world.

It is obvious that more and more people are unwilling in making some big changes in their lives while they are happy with their regular living. There are several problems that could be such reasons.

Firstly, there might be changes in culture and habit. For example, people moved to live in other countries.
