Some Comments :

The Best Textbook for Product Design!

This book demystifies design and the product development with practical examples of how others have been successful in every phase and activity of the process. Clear, easy to read, well illustrated. Strongest on the engineering and manufacturing perspective, but Ulrich is also sensitive to aesthetics, marketing and consumer experience issues (a rare find!).After 20 years consulting in the field, I still found lots to learn here. I’d call it a major contribution to the field.
An essential manual for anyone in product development
Ulrich and Eppinger have done a great job of presenting a usable framework with a functional set of tools for product development. Their book is easy to read, easy to apply, yet very powerful for aiding the product development process. I refer to it often in my own work. The many examples from a variety of industries provide a richness not present in many other works in this field. Read it before your next project meeting.
Practical, no-nonsense guide to really doing it.
Product Design and Development is a very practical, tools-based book. It is written in a way that each chapter can be used on its own (e.g., identifying customer needs, generating product concepts). We require all of our new engineers and designers to read the book and ask them to adhere to the methods associated with several of our “stage/gate processes.” This is not a high-level strategy book; it tells you how to do product design and development in the trenches. Excellent book and worth every penny.

Manufacturing Engineering & Technology (6th Edition) , Professor Serope Kalpakjian,Dr. Steven R. Schmid
Product Description
An up-to-date text that provides a solid background in manufacturing processes, with a total of 120 examples and case studies, current and comprehensive coverage of all topics, and superior two-color graphics.
The sixth edition has been completely updated, and addresses issues essential to modern manufacturing, ranging from traditional topics such as casting, forming, machining, and joining, to advanced topics such as the fabrication of microelectronic devices and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and nanomaterials and nanomanufacturing.
A valuable reference text for manufacturing professionals.

About the Author
Professor Serope Kalpakjian has been teaching at the Illinois Institute of Technology since 1963. After graduating from Robert College (with High Honors), Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he joined Cincinnati Milacron, Inc., where he was a research supervisor in charge of advanced metal-forming processes. He has published numerous papers and is the author of several articles in encyclopedias and handbooks; he has also edited various volumes and serves on the editorial boards of several journals and the Encyclopedia Americana.
He is the author of three additional manufacturing books,Read More >>>

Some Comments :

good reference. used for MIT qualifying exams.
i used this book for MIT qualifying exams and it was a good overview. it covers quite a bit in terms of processes…and not very mathy. a few errors in there, but good reference overall.
doesnt deal with lean manufacturing or six sigma type stuff really.

this will break your back if you have to carry it around while studying (like i did).

Very good manufacturing text
I’ve taught a quarter-long Manufacturing Processes course out of this text (and its predecessor) for four years, and plan to continue using it. This text presents a great overview of a wide variety of processes, which is exactly what I’m trying to achieve. It also goes into reasonable depth with many processes. I do not attempt to cover the entire text in one quarter, however — I use roughly half.

When asked on end-of-term evaluations whether they agreed with the statement, “The textbook was valuable in my learning experience,” students consistently rated this text 4.1/5.0. The average score campus-wide for textbooks is 3.6/5.0. Anecdotally, the handful of students who actually bother reading the text come up to me and say, “It really is interesting and easy to read.”

Yes, there are some errors which have been frustratingly carried over from the 5th edition, but you catch many of them with a first reading. They knock it down from 5- to 4-stars, but I’m still really happy with the text.

Top Three Robot Text Book (Modeling, Analysis, and Control )

These are three robotic textbook which were online bestseller. These were also used in more and more class because there are clear concepts.

First of all; Robotics: Modelling, Planning and Control , Bruno Siciliano and others

Robotics-Modelling-Planning-Control

Robotics-Modelling-Planning-Control

The classic text on robot manipulators now covers visual control, motion planning and mobile robots too!

Robotics provides the basic know-how on the foundations of robotics: modelling, planning and control. The text develops around a core of consistent and rigorous formalism with fundamental and technological material giving rise naturally and with gradually increasing difficulty to more advanced considerations.
The theory of manipulator structures presented in the early part of the book encompasses:
• the fundamentals: kinematics, statics and trajectory planning; and
• the technology of actuators, sensors and control units.
Subsequently, more advanced instruction is given in:
• dynamics and motion control of robot manipulators;
• mobile robots;
• motion planning; and
• interaction with the environment using exteroceptive sensory data (force and vision).

Second; Robot Modeling and Control, Mark W. Spong

Robot Modeling and Control

Robot Modeling and Control

Key Features

* A step-by-step computational approach helps you derive and compute the forward kinematics, inverse kinematics, and Jacobians for the most common robot designs.
* Detailed coverage of vision and visual servo control enables you to program robots to manipulate objects sensed by cameras.
* An entire chapter on dynamics prepares you to compute the dynamics of the most common manipulator designs.
* The most common motion planning and trajectory generation algorithms are presented in an elementary style.
* The comprehensive treatment of motion and force control includes both basic and advanced methods.
* The text’s treatment of geometric nonlinear control is more readable than in more advanced texts.
* Many worked examples and an extensive list of problems illustrate all aspects of the theory.

Best Industrial Robot Textbook

I recommended the two classical textbook in Industrial Robot being of 1)  Fundamentals of Robotics: Analysis and Control Robert J. Schilling 2) Introduction to Robotics: Mechanics and Control (3rd Edition) John J. Craig. I had learned more from these books in doing my project, Robot Vision Development.

Fundamentals of Robotics: Analysis and Control Robert J. Schilling

Fundamentals of Robotics: Analysis and Control
